Planning and Organizing and Stressing Out

Thursday, February 24th, 2011

Whenever I have exams coming up I have this urge to suddenly clean up & organize my whole apartment and/or bake delicious cupcakes or… do anything else BUT study. So this week is no exception – I had one exam this week and two next week. I also have a couple of coursework projects/essays that I need to finish and return. I think I’m in pretty good shape when it comes to finishing my tasks on time, but… I wish these two weeks were OVER. I feel like my skin is again reacting to all the stress. See, I’ve never had acne in all my life. Growing up I had a few spots here and there (never a 100% clear face but still very easy-to-handle spots). This fall/winter it seems like something has happened and these tiny acne spots are just dropping by to say hi, new ones coming daily or at least weekly. So I bought this new Eucerin Dermopurifyer set from the Pharmacy and hope that it will do the trick. I don’t want to start relying on acne medication or anything like that.

Also, it would not hurt that this -20 degree celsius weather would come to an end. My skin needs vitamin D, it needs the sun! I have a feeling that all my problems will go away once the spring arrives. Ah, I can’t wait for the first breath of spring air (fresh grass, sun)! My previous two springs of ’09 and ’10 were pretty good ones life-wise, so I hope ’11 will be that too! ;)

Last week I got these cute diary/journal/planner decoration stickers from South Korea. They’re by Cookyshop and are called Helloday stickers. Adorable idea, right? I mean, lets make planning and organizing more fun! I have so many plans as to how to clean up & re-organize my appartment and getting rid of the extra clutter, old clothes etc. I always feel like spring time is the perfect time to dig out all of your old clothes, cds and nick-nacks and decide if you still need to hold on to them or not.

Keep memories in your heart not in your closet!

Easy come, easy go. That’s just how you live…

This spring I’ve tried to be more active when it comes to school. Seems like it was way too easy last autumn to just stay in bed when my alarm clock rang around 7:30am. So far I have been attending all classes (although it is not mandatory) and tried to keep up with homework as well as studying for some re-takes on failed exams. I always seem to do better in school during spring than fall. Why is that? Sure the days are getting brighter instead of darker (thank you finnish weather!) and perhaps I need a bit of extra “pressure” so that I can be serious about my studies. Though, also it can be that I was overloading myself with work during Fall. Currently I am taking only 2 computer science courses and then 2 fun courses about topics non-related to anything scientific or mathematical. You see, I am not a very mathematical person. I hate math. I hate science. And yet I still study computer science? Well, the world would be an awful place if all computer scientists would be those sort of un-social geeky types. Right? *kidding*

Today I don’t feel like doing anything, I just wanna lay in my bed…” I unfortunately (or luckily) have caught the Bruno Mars bug. I think his new album “Doo-Wops & Hooligans” is very good. But, what I like most about the man is his live performances. You see, after you’ve heard this amazing live performance of his latest single Grenade, you don’t feel like listening to the album version ever again. I think he would be so much better if he would record the songs the way he loves to perform them – without the pop-beats that, no doubt, the record company pushes on him and all the major artists. After all, Doo-Wop, blues, jazz.. those are not music styles that will get millions of teenagers to buy your records. Or so the record label bosses seem to think.

So, today I really don’t feel like doing anything, but I have to. It’s 3pm and while my friends (I bet) are still in bed hung-over from yesterday’s get together, I’ve already done some homework, my daily exercise routine, cooked for my folks and begun two essays that are due in 3 weeks (I like to avoid the stress by starting things early). Next up is cleaning my appartment and pampering myself with a facial & new nail design. I also might watch Tangled tonight. Next week I’m planning to go see the movie Burlesque.

Who said that sitting on class should be boring? It’s not! When there’s something interesting around :)

What are your sundays usually like? Have you seen Tangled or Burlesque?
